Now's the Time to Donate

Let's Light the Marquee

We have raised $30,000 through
local donations, light bulb sales &
a 2005 grant from the Benton
 Community Foundation.

Total cost of the marquee restoration is $80,000.

We need to raise only $50,000
to restore the marquee - and
finish the exterior!!

We really appreciate your help.

We are a totally volunteer operation.
Curious as to what we've done so far.

To date we have:

  • September 2001 - Group of local citizens formed the non-profit Prairie Preservation Guild
LTD., borrowed $40,000 from Historic Landmarks of Indiana. Loan was refinanced this
year through The Fowler State Bank

  • Sept-Dec 2001 - Building was tested and cleaned for environmental pollutants and spruced
up decoratively for use as a commercial theatre.

  • Dec 2001-Current - Board of directors threw themselves into learning how to run commercial
movie theatre, from booking shows to scheduling workers, repairing and replacing some projection
equipment, updating wiring-heating-cooling, and putting hot water in the bathrooms!

  • August 2004 - Replaced leaky roof with a 15-year guaranteed roof from Sentry, financed through
a $19,000 grant from North Central Health Services and $5,000 from operating funds

In order to continue to qualify for grants, it is important that we have community support. We have much to do yet inside, so we appreciate your help finishing the exterior projects.
